A shortage of school infrastructure in Seke District has forced pupils to learn under trees, with the situation being worsened by climate change–induced heat and extreme weather. Seke District Schools Inspector, Farayi Mudita, told our reporter Kudakwashe Chibvuri that some schools are still relying on dilapidated Blair toilets, which become unusable during the rainy season and pose serious cholera risks. She has called for urgent government intervention to improve learning conditions.
 
 
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Professor Obert Jiri, says government is intensifying irrigation development in Masvingo Province as part of efforts to strengthen national food security.
 
Professor Jiri has also urged farmers in Masvingo to take proactive steps to improve agricultural productivity and support national development goals.
Highlanders Supporters Harare Chapter Secretary-General Bukhosi Dube says benefactor Sir Wicknell Chivayo’s donation of USD $300,000 and a 75-seater Higer luxury bus, valued at $285,000, will boost player recruitment for the 2026/7 Castle Lager Premiership season. The bus handover was presided over by Vice President Kembo Mohadi. Dube told our reporter Thami Mkandla that the support comes after Highlanders narrowly avoided relegation in 2025 under Dutch coach Peter de Jongh. The team is set to travel to Malawi for pre-season training.
